1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar, plus more for coating
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup finely crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream Butter and Sugar:

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Add Extracts:

Mix in the vanilla extract and peppermint extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients:

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, beating until well combined.
Add Peppermint Candies:

Fold in the crushed peppermint candies.
Shape the Cookies:

Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are set but not browned.
Coat with Powdered Sugar:

Let the cookies cool for a few minutes, then while still warm, roll them in additional powdered sugar.
After they’ve cooled completely, roll them in powdered sugar again for a nice snowy coating.

Once coated and cooled, your Peppermint Snowball Cookies are ready to be served.
