Description

Rotel Cream Cheese Sausage Balls are a flavorful twist on the classic sausage ball, combining savory sausage, creamy cheese, and the zesty kick of Rotel tomatoes and green chilies. These bite-sized delights are perfect for parties, game days, or as a hearty snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) uncooked ground sausage (hot or mild, based on preference)
  • 8 ounces (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (10 ounces/283g) Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, drained
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) Bisquick baking mix
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded Mexican cheese blend

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
    • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat.
  • Combine Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the uncooked sausage, softened cream cheese, drained Rotel tomatoes and green chilies, Bisquick baking mix, and shredded Mexican cheese blend.
    • Using an electric stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment can make mixing easier.
  • Form the Sausage Balls:
    • Scoop the mixture and shape it into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls.
    • Placing the mixture in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes can make it easier to handle.
  • Bake:
    • Arrange the sausage balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Notes

  • Storage: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain their crispness.
  • Make-Ahead Option: You can prepare the sausage balls and freeze them uncooked. When ready to bake, place the frozen balls on a baking sheet and bake as directed, adding a few extra minutes to the baking time.

  • Serving Suggestions: These sausage balls pair well with dipping sauces like ranch dressing, honey mustard, or spicy sriracha mayo.
