Ingredients
5 large eggs (approximately 50 – 55g each)
1 cup cream, heavy or thickened
1/4 tsp salt (use sparingly if using bacon)
1/2 tsp black pepper
100g ham, diced
1 cup shredded cheese (any good melting cheese, except mozzarella)
1 green onion, sliced
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Grease a 22.5 cm (9″) pie dish with butter or cooking spray.
Prepare Egg Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, salt, and black pepper.
Layer Ingredients in Pie Dish:
Scatter most of the diced ham, shredded cheese, and sliced green onion in the greased pie dish.
Pour the egg mixture over the ham, cheese, and onion.
Top with the remaining ham, cheese, and green onion.
Bake the Quiche: Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center barely wiggles.
Don’t Overcook: Be careful not to overcook the quiche to maintain its custardy texture and avoid it becoming dry.
Rest and Serve:
Remove the quiche from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes. It will deflate slightly.
Cut and serve with a simple side salad.
This crustless quiche is a great way to enjoy a lighter version of the classic dish, with all the flavorful ham and cheese, but without the crust. It’s perfect for a satisfying and hearty meal any time of the day. Enjoy your cooking!Â
