Description

This Fresh Salsa is bursting with the flavors of ripe tomatoes, zesty lime, and aromatic cilantro. Perfect as a dip for chips or a topping for tacos, salads, and grilled meats, this homemade salsa comes together in minutes and tastes so much better than store-bought!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium tomatoes (ripe, diced)
  • 1 small red onion (finely chopped)
  • 12 jalapeños (seeded and finely chopped, adjust for spice level)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the ingredients: In a medium bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic, lime juice, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  2. Taste and adjust: Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning, lime juice, or spice level as desired.
  3. Chill and serve: For best flavor, refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

Notes

  • Substitute tomatoes with canned fire-roasted tomatoes for a smoky flavor.
  • For extra heat, leave the jalapeño seeds or add a dash of hot sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
