Description

A velvety, rich chocolate posset brightened with fresh orange zest and juice—an elegant no-bake dessert that’s effortlessly impressive.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 oz dark chocolate (70%), finely chopped
  • Zest of 1 large orange
  • 2 Tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine cream, sugar, and orange zest. Stir and heat just to a simmer—do not boil.
  2. Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate. Stir until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Whisk in orange juice, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
  4. Strain the mixture into a jug through a fine mesh sieve to remove zest and ensure smoothness.
  5. Pour into ramekins or glasses. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
  6. Serve chilled, garnished with orange zest, chocolate shavings, or candied orange if desired.

Notes

  • Do not let the cream boil—only bring it to a gentle simmer.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for best flavor and texture.
  • Chilling overnight enhances flavor and texture.
  • Straining is optional but recommended for the silkiest finish.
  • Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 5 days.
