Description

Yum Yum Sauce is a creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet Japanese-style condiment often served with hibachi dishes, seafood, and vegetables.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste (or ketchup)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 23 tablespoons water (to thin as needed)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, tomato paste, melted butter, rice vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Whisk until smooth and fully combined.
  3. Add water 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few drops of hot sauce.
  • Best if made a day ahead for maximum flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
