This White Chocolate Trash Snack Mix is a quick and irresistible no-bake treat, combining sweet and salty snacks coated in creamy white chocolate. Perfect for parties, holidays, or a fun snack, it’s a customizable and crowd-pleasing recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups rice or corn cereal squares (like Rice Chex or Crispix)
  • 2 cups pretzel twists or sticks
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 cups salted peanuts (or mixed nuts)
  • 1 cup candy-coated chocolates (like M&M’s)
  • 1 bag (12 oz) white chocolate chips or white candy melts
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

1. Combine the Dry Ingredients

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels, marshmallows, peanuts, and candy-coated chocolates. Toss gently to mix evenly.

2. Melt the White Chocolate

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the vegetable oil (if using) in 20–30 second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted.
  2. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate to prevent it from seizing.

3. Coat the Snack Mix

  1. Pour the melted white chocolate over the snack mix.
  2. Gently stir with a spatula until all the ingredients are evenly coated.

4. Spread and Cool

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper.
  2. Spread the coated snack mix in an even layer on the sheet and let it cool and set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

5. Break and Serve

  1. Once the white chocolate has hardened, break the mix into clusters or pieces.
  2. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

    • Swap nuts for sunflower seeds for a nut-free version.
  • Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Holiday Option: Use holiday-themed candy-coated chocolates or sprinkles for a seasonal look.
