Description

A creamy and indulgent twist on classic hot chocolate, whipped hot chocolate is made by whipping hot cocoa mix with cream or milk until frothy and spooning it over hot milk for a rich, layered drink.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tbsp hot cocoa mix
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine hot cocoa mix, sugar, and heavy whipping cream.
  2. Whip the mixture using a hand mixer or whisk until it becomes light and fluffy with soft peaks.
  3. Heat the milk in a saucepan or microwave until hot, but not boiling. Pour into a mug.
  4. Spoon the whipped hot chocolate mixture over the hot milk.
  5. Top with additional whipped cream or marshmallows if desired. Stir before drinking for a rich cocoa flavor.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar to taste or use a sugar substitute for a lower-sugar version.
  • Use a flavored cocoa mix for variety (e.g., peppermint, mocha).
  • For an iced version, pour over cold milk and ice instead of hot milk.
