Description

Walking Tacos are a fun and easy meal perfect for parties, picnics, or game day. All the classic taco ingredients are served directly in a bag of chips, allowing you to walk around and enjoy your taco without a plate! Kids and adults alike will love this customizable and portable dish.


Ingredients

For the Taco Meat:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Walking Tacos:

  • 8 single-serving bags of chips (Fritos, Doritos, or tortilla chips)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced onions (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 cup salsa or pico de gallo
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup guacamole or diced avocados
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Hot sauce, for extra spice

 



Instructions

  1. Prepare the Taco Meat:

    • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until no longer pink.
    • Drain excess grease if needed.
    • Add taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
    • Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Chips:

    • Gently crush the bags of chips to break them into smaller pieces (without opening the bags).
    • Carefully cut the top of each bag open.
  3. Assemble the Walking Tacos:

    • Add a scoop of warm taco meat to each bag of chips.
    • Layer with your favorite toppings like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cilantro.
  4. Serve:

    • Give each person a fork, and they can mix up their walking taco right in the bag.
    • Enjoy on the go or while mingling at your event!

  • Customizable Toppings: Feel free to add corn, jalapeños, or beans.
