Description
This honey butter toast is a viral dessert for a reason! Thick, golden toast is slathered with a rich honey-butter mixture, then baked until perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Topped with ice cream, whipped cream, or fruit, it’s pure dessert magic.
Ingredients
-
2 slices thick-cut bread (brioche, milk bread, or Texas toast work best)
-
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
-
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
-
Pinch of salt
-
Optional toppings: vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, berries, more honey, cinnamon sugar
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, honey, vanilla extract (if using), and a pinch of salt until smooth.
-
Score the top of each bread slice in a criss-cross pattern, cutting about halfway through (don’t slice all the way).
-
Spread the honey butter mixture generously over the top and into the cuts.
-
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the toast is golden and edges are crisp.
-
Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for an extra golden top — watch closely!
-
Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream, a drizzle of extra honey, or your favorite toppings.
Notes
-
Use day-old bread for the crispiest texture.
-
You can double the butter-honey mix if making more slices.
-
Try adding cinnamon, maple syrup, or a dusting of powdered sugar for fun variations.
