- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup Valentine’s-themed M&M’s
- 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup Valentine’s sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
- Mix the Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- Prepare the Wet Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- Combine the Batter:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in 3/4 of the M&M’s, the chocolate chips, and half of the sprinkles.
- Assemble the Cookie Bars:
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Press the remaining M&M’s and sprinkles on top for decoration.
- Bake:
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is just set. Be careful not to overbake, as the bars will continue to firm up as they cool.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares or rectangles and serve.
Notes
- For thicker bars, use a 9×9-inch pan and increase the baking time by 5–7 minutes.
- You can customize this recipe with white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or dark chocolate chunks.
