Scale
- 2 (5 oz) cans tuna in water, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped red onion or green onion
- 1 tablespoon chopped pickles or relish
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of bread (sourdough, white, or whole grain)
- 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or American)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, mustard (if using), onion, pickles, salt, and pepper until well combined.

- Place 2 slices of bread, butter-side down, on a skillet or griddle. Top each with a slice of cheese, half of the tuna mixture, another slice of cheese, and the remaining bread (butter-side up).
- Heat over medium heat until the bottom is golden brown, about 3–4 minutes. Flip carefully and grill the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use a panini press for even grilling and melty cheese.
- Customize with tomato slices, spinach, or jalapeños for extra flavor.
- Tuna mixture can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
