Description

Traeger Smoked Salmon is a deliciously tender and flavorful dish made by slow-smoking fresh salmon fillets on a Traeger grill with a sweet and savory seasoning blend.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds salmon fillet, skin on
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  2. Pat the salmon dry with paper towels and rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the flesh side.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to penetrate.
  4. Preheat Traeger grill to 180°F (82°C) using your choice of wood pellets (apple, cherry, or alder recommended).
  5. Place the salmon directly on the grill grates, skin side down.
  6. Smoke for 2-3 hours or until the salmon reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes before serving with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For a sweeter finish, brush salmon with a thin layer of maple syrup or honey during the last 30 minutes of smoking.
  • Thicker fillets may require additional smoking time.
  • Use a probe thermometer for best results and to avoid overcooking.
  • Leftovers are great in salads, sandwiches, or pasta dishes.
