Scale
- 2 lbs chicken drumettes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp BBQ dry rub
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp honey
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Traeger smoker to 250°F (121°C) with your favorite wood pellets (apple or hickory recommended).
- Using a sharp knife, cut around the thin end of each drumette, pushing the meat down to form a lollipop shape.
- Toss the lollipop wings in olive oil, then coat evenly with BBQ dry rub.
- Place the lollipops standing upright on the smoker rack.
- Smoke for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- In the last 15 minutes, brush the wings with a mixture of BBQ sauce and honey.
- Increase the heat to 375°F (190°C) and cook an additional 5-10 minutes to set the glaze.
- Remove from smoker, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.
Notes
- Using a rack that holds the lollipops upright helps them cook evenly and keeps the shape intact.
- Experiment with different BBQ sauces like spicy or sweet varieties for flavor variety.
- These make great appetizers for parties or game days!
