Description

Traeger Chicken Wing Lollipops are a fun and flavorful twist on traditional wings, where the meat is pushed down to create a ‘lollipop’ shape, then smoked to juicy perfection.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken drumettes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp BBQ dry rub
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Traeger smoker to 250°F (121°C) with your favorite wood pellets (apple or hickory recommended).
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut around the thin end of each drumette, pushing the meat down to form a lollipop shape.
  3. Toss the lollipop wings in olive oil, then coat evenly with BBQ dry rub.
  4. Place the lollipops standing upright on the smoker rack.
  5. Smoke for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  6. In the last 15 minutes, brush the wings with a mixture of BBQ sauce and honey.
  7. Increase the heat to 375°F (190°C) and cook an additional 5-10 minutes to set the glaze.
  8. Remove from smoker, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Using a rack that holds the lollipops upright helps them cook evenly and keeps the shape intact.
