Scale
- 1 package of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Green spinach or pesto sauce (optional, for a green tree look)
- Toppings for decorations:
- Cherry tomatoes (as ornaments)
- Bell peppers (cut into stars or strips)
- Black olives (sliced)
- Pepperoni slices
- Fresh basil leaves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Shape the dough:
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface. Cut it into large Christmas tree shapes using a knife or a tree-shaped cookie cutter.
- Transfer the dough trees to the prepared baking sheet.
- Add the base layer:
- Spread pizza sauce (or green spinach/pesto sauce for a more “tree-like” appearance) evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Decorate the trees:
- Use cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, olives, and pepperoni to decorate your trees like Christmas ornaments. Cut a star shape from yellow bell peppers for the tree topper, if desired.
- Bake:
- Brush the edges of the dough with olive oil to make them golden.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Serve:
- Let the pizzas cool slightly, then serve warm. Encourage kids to enjoy their creative, festive dinner!
Notes
- For extra fun, let kids customize their own trees with toppings before baking.
- Use a variety of colorful vegetables for a vibrant look!
