Description

These easy pigs in a blanket are a classic party snack made with just two main ingredients: cocktail sausages and puff pastry. They’re quick to assemble, kid-friendly, and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 12 cocktail sausages (mini hot dogs or lil’ smokies)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)
  • All-purpose flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour your surface and roll out puff pastry slightly to smooth the seams.
  3. Cut the puff pastry into 12 strips, approximately 1 inch wide.
  4. Wrap each cocktail sausage in a strip of pastry, sealing the ends.
  5. Place wrapped sausages seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  6. Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if using.
  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  8. Cool slightly and serve with mustard or ketchup for dipping.

Notes

  • Can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge until ready to bake.
  • Serve with a variety of dipping sauces like honey mustard or barbecue sauce.
  • Substitute with turkey or chicken sausages for a lighter version.
