Description

This refreshing Thanksgiving Punch is a festive blend of fruit juices, sparkling cider, and seasonal spices, perfect for holiday gatherings. It’s easy to make, non-alcoholic, and a hit with guests of all ages. Add a splash of spirit for an adult twist if desired!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) apple cider
  • 2 cups (480 ml) cranberry juice
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange juice
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) sparkling water or ginger ale
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or 2 cinnamon sticks)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries (optional, for garnish)
  • Ice cubes

Optional:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) bourbon, rum, or sparkling wine for a spiked version

Instructions

  1. Mix the base:
    • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine apple cider, cranberry juice, orange juice, and lemon juice. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well mixed.
  2. Chill and garnish:
    • Add the apple slices, orange slices, and fresh cranberries. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Add sparkle:
    • Just before serving, stir in the sparkling water or ginger ale. Add ice cubes to keep the punch chilled.
  4. Serve:
    • Ladle the punch into glasses and garnish with a slice of apple or orange for a festive touch. If making a spiked version, mix in your chosen spirit or let guests add it to their glasses individually.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: Prepare the punch base (without sparkling water/ginger ale) up to a day in advance and refrigerate. Add the sparkling element just before serving.
  • Adjust sweetness: Taste the punch before adding brown sugar, as the juices and cider may already provide enough sweetness.
  • Alcoholic version: Serve with optional bourbon, rum, or sparkling wine for an adult-friendly variation.
