Scale
For the Burgers:
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juicier burgers)
- 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 4 slices American cheese
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
For the Assembly:
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato, and onion slices (optional)
- Mayonnaise, ketchup, or teriyaki glaze for spreading
- Butter for toasting buns (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Burger Patties:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, teriyaki sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
- Cook the Burgers:
- Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface.
- Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (internal temperature of 160°F for fully cooked burgers).
- In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top. Cover the pan or grill with a lid to help the cheese melt.
- Toast the Buns (Optional):
- Spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.
- Assemble the Burgers:
- Spread your choice of mayonnaise, ketchup, or teriyaki glaze on the bottom bun.
- Layer with lettuce, tomato, and onion slices (if desired).
- Place the cheesy burger patty on top, then finish with the top bun.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately with fries, a side salad, or your favorite burger sides.
Notes
- Make It Saucy: Drizzle extra teriyaki glaze over the cheese for even more flavor.
- Custom Toppings: Add pineapple rings, sautéed mushrooms, or crispy fried onions for a gourmet twist.
- Parmesan Alternative: Use shredded Parmesan for a chunkier texture if preferred.
