Description

Juicy burgers are seasoned with teriyaki sauce, grilled to perfection, and topped with creamy American cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Serve them on toasted buns with your favorite toppings for a delicious burger night upgrade.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juicier burgers)
  • 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

For the Assembly:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and onion slices (optional)
  • Mayonnaise, ketchup, or teriyaki glaze for spreading
  • Butter for toasting buns (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, teriyaki sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  2. Cook the Burgers:
    • Heat a grill, grill pan, or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the surface.
    • Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness (internal temperature of 160°F for fully cooked burgers).
    • In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of American cheese on each patty and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top. Cover the pan or grill with a lid to help the cheese melt.
  3. Toast the Buns (Optional):
    • Spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Burgers:
    • Spread your choice of mayonnaise, ketchup, or teriyaki glaze on the bottom bun.
    • Layer with lettuce, tomato, and onion slices (if desired).
    • Place the cheesy burger patty on top, then finish with the top bun.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately with fries, a side salad, or your favorite burger sides.

Notes

  • Make It Saucy: Drizzle extra teriyaki glaze over the cheese for even more flavor.
  • Custom Toppings: Add pineapple rings, sautéed mushrooms, or crispy fried onions for a gourmet twist.
  • Parmesan Alternative: Use shredded Parmesan for a chunkier texture if preferred.
