Description

These crispy baked sweet potato fries are a healthy and flavorful alternative to regular fries. Lightly seasoned and roasted to golden perfection, they’re sweet, savory, and great for snacking or as a delicious side dish. No frying required—just simple ingredients and oven magic.

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch thick matchsticks

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)

  • Optional: fresh parsley or sea salt for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Soak the fries: Place cut sweet potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Let soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry completely.

  3. Coat the fries: Toss the dry sweet potatoes with cornstarch to lightly coat, then drizzle with olive oil and toss again. Add paprika, garlic powder, and salt.

  4. Arrange on baking sheet: Spread fries out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets. Don’t overcrowd—use two sheets if needed.

  5. Bake: Roast for 15 minutes, flip the fries, and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.

  6. Serve: Let cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with more salt or chopped herbs and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Soaking and drying the fries is key for crispiness.

  • For even more crisp edges, bake on convection or broil for the last 1–2 minutes.

  • Try seasoning with cinnamon and cayenne for a sweet-and-spicy twist.
