Scale
- 2 large fresh strawberries, hulled (plus extra for garnish)
- 2 oz (60 ml) vodka (plain or strawberry-flavored)
- 1 oz (30 ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 oz (30 ml) simple syrup (adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
- Sugar, for rimming the glass (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Glass:
- If desired, rim a martini glass with sugar. To do this, rub a lemon wedge around the edge of the glass and dip it into a shallow dish of sugar. Set aside.
- Muddle the Strawberries:
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the fresh strawberries until they’re thoroughly mashed and release their juices.
- Mix the Drink:
- Add the vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a handful of ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds to combine and chill the ingredients.
- Strain and Serve:
- Strain the mixture into the prepared martini glass, using a fine mesh strainer to catch the strawberry pulp if desired.
- Garnish:
- Garnish with a fresh strawberry or a lemon twist for a festive touch. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Simple Syrup: To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then let cool before using.
- Flavor Variations: Add a splash of sparkling water for a fizzy twist or replace plain vodka with citrus vodka for extra zing.
- Non-Alcoholic Option: Replace the vodka with sparkling lemonade for a mocktail version.
