Description

A delightful pastry featuring flaky puff pastry filled with sweet cream cheese and fresh strawberries, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (113g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 tbsp strawberry jam (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp water
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry and cut into 4-6 equal squares or rectangles.
  4. Spoon a dollop of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square and top with sliced strawberries. Add a small amount of strawberry jam if using.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling or leave open-faced. Press gently to secure if folding.
  6. Beat egg with water to make egg wash. Brush the edges of each danish.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until pastry is golden and puffed.
  8. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

  • Substitute strawberries with other berries or stone fruits.
