Description

Stick of Butter Rice is a simple, flavorful baked rice dish made with just a few pantry staples — butter, beef broth, and French onion soup — creating a rich, savory side perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed French onion soup
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can beef broth
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In an 8×8-inch or similar-sized baking dish, combine rice, French onion soup, and beef broth. Stir to evenly distribute the rice.
  3. Place slices of butter evenly over the top of the mixture.
  4. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Fluff with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, stir in sautéed mushrooms or cooked onions before baking.
  • Use low-sodium broth and soup if reducing salt intake.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled for a crowd — just use a larger baking dish.
