Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Steak:

  • 1 lb steak (ribeye, sirloin, or flank), thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp steak seasoning or salt and black pepper to taste

For the Garlic Cheese Bread:

  • 1 large baguette or French bread, halved lengthwise
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar or Parmesan cheese

For Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh parsley or chives
  • Optional: red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak with steak seasoning or salt and pepper.
    • Add the steak slices and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned but still juicy. Stir in minced garlic during the last minute of cooking. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley or Italian seasoning.
  3. Prepare the Bread:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the halved bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
    • Spread the garlic butter evenly over the bread. Top with shredded mozzarella and cheddar (or Parmesan).
  4. Bake the Bread:
    • Bake the bread for 8–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.
  5. Assemble the Steak Garlic Cheese Bread:
    • Remove the bread from the oven and top it with the cooked steak slices. Sprinkle with fresh parsley or chives and optional red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  6. Serve:
    • Slice into pieces and serve immediately as an appetizer or main dish.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, drizzle the bread with a balsamic glaze before serving.
  • Substitute steak with cooked chicken or mushrooms for variation.
  • This dish pairs wonderfully with a fresh green salad or roasted vegetables.
