Description

This Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel is a hearty, satisfying breakfast sandwich featuring tender steak, fluffy eggs, and melty cheese on a toasted bagel. Perfect for mornings when you need a protein-packed start or crave something indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 bagels, sliced and toasted
  • 4 oz (115 g) thinly sliced steak (ribeye, sirloin, or deli-style roast beef)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your choice)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise or creamy horseradish sauce (optional, for spreading)

Instructions

1. Prepare the steak

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  2. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  3. If using onions, add them to the skillet and sauté until soft and caramelized, about 5 minutes.

2. Cook the eggs

  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook them to your preference (fried or scrambled). Season with salt and pepper.

3. Assemble the sandwich

  1. Spread mayonnaise or horseradish sauce on one side of each toasted bagel, if desired.
  2. Layer the cooked steak on the bottom half of the bagel.
  3. Add the cooked egg on top of the steak.
  4. Place a slice of cheese over the egg, letting it melt slightly from the residual heat.
  5. Add caramelized onions, if using, and top with the other half of the bagel.

4. Serve

  • Serve the sandwich warm, paired with hash browns, fresh fruit, or coffee for a complete breakfast.

Notes

  • Make-Ahead: Cook the steak and onions in advance, then assemble and reheat when ready to eat.
  • Customization: Add a slice of tomato, a handful of spinach, or avocado slices for extra flavor and texture.
  • Bagel Options: Use plain, sesame, or everything bagels based on your preference.
