Southern Fried Chicken Batter

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 2 teaspoons black pepper
  3. 2 teaspoons paprika
  4. 4 teaspoons garlic salt
  5. ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning mix
  6. 1 cup buttermilk
  7. 2 eggs, beaten

Directions:

  1. First Step: In a bowl, mix the beaten eggs with buttermilk. In another bowl, combine flour, poultry seasoning, garlic salt, paprika, and black pepper. Place this flour mixture in a large ziplock bag.
  2. Second Step: Put the chicken pieces in the bag and shake well to coat them evenly. Then, remove the chicken and dip each piece in the egg mixture.
  3. Third Step: Dip each piece of chicken back into the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
  4. Fourth Step: Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet to 375°F (190°C). Brown the chicken on each side, then reduce the heat. Let the chicken cook for 20-30 minutes, depending on the size of the pieces.
  5. Fifth Step: Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) before serving. Drain the cooked chicken on absorbent paper.
