Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 box (16 oz) saltine crackers (about 4 sleeves)
- 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
- 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
- 2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Seasoning Mixture:
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the oil, ranch seasoning mix, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using).
2. Coat the Crackers:
- Place the saltine crackers in a large gallon-sized zip-top bag.
- Pour the seasoned oil mixture over the crackers. Seal the bag and gently turn it over multiple times to coat all the crackers evenly.
- Let the bag sit for at least 1 hour, turning it occasionally to ensure all the crackers absorb the flavors.
3. Bake the Crackers (Optional for Extra Crispness):
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Spread the crackers in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through. This step is optional but helps the seasoning set and enhances the crunch.
4. Cool and Serve:
- Allow the crackers to cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container.
- Serve as a snack or with your favorite dips.
Notes
- Cracker Alternatives: Try this recipe with oyster crackers or mini saltines for a bite-sized version.
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- Spicy Level: Adjust the red pepper flakes to your preferred heat level, or omit for a milder version.
