These Southern Fire Crackers are a spicy, zesty, and flavorful snack that’s perfect for parties, game days, or casual munching. Made with saltine crackers and a kick of seasoning, they’re easy to prepare and incredibly addictive!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (16 oz) saltine crackers (about 4 sleeves)
  • 1 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Seasoning Mixture:

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the oil, ranch seasoning mix, crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using).

2. Coat the Crackers:

  1. Place the saltine crackers in a large gallon-sized zip-top bag.
  2. Pour the seasoned oil mixture over the crackers. Seal the bag and gently turn it over multiple times to coat all the crackers evenly.
  3. Let the bag sit for at least 1 hour, turning it occasionally to ensure all the crackers absorb the flavors.

3. Bake the Crackers (Optional for Extra Crispness):

  1. Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Spread the crackers in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through. This step is optional but helps the seasoning set and enhances the crunch.

4. Cool and Serve:

  1. Allow the crackers to cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container.
  2. Serve as a snack or with your favorite dips.
