Description:
This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is an easy and flavorful dish featuring tender chicken coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for serving over rice or vegetables, this dish is a delicious go-to for busy weeknights with a wonderful balance of flavors and minimal prep.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  • Prep the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, ketchup, minced garlic, rice vinegar, thyme, and basil until smooth.
  • Add to Crockpot: Place the chicken in the crockpot and pour the sauce over the top, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  • Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Stir it into the crockpot, cover, and cook on high for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve: Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve over rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

  • Optional Veggies: Add chopped bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas in the last hour of cooking for extra color and flavor.
  • Make It Spicy: Add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce for a bit of heat.
