Description

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken is a tender, juicy dish made by slow-cooking chicken breasts in flavorful barbecue sauce until they can be shredded easily. Perfect for sandwiches, wraps, or served over rice.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup Italian dressing
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together barbecue sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easy to shred.
  5. Remove the chicken, shred it with two forks, then return it to the slow cooker and stir to coat with the sauce.
  6. Serve on buns, over rice, or with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use store-bought or homemade barbecue sauce.
  • This recipe works well with boneless chicken thighs too.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
