Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 1 1/2 lbs (680g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup (240ml) ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Casserole:

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough, cut into quarters
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup (15g) chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

Assemble the Casserole:

  1. Transfer the sloppy joe mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Scatter the biscuit dough quarters evenly over the top of the sloppy joe mixture.

Add Cheese:

  1. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the biscuits.

Bake:

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Serve:

  1. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
