Scale
- 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails on or off)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 cup dry white wine (or chicken broth)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Freshly grated Parmesan (optional, for serving)
- Cooked pasta, rice, or crusty bread for serving
Instructions
-
Prepare the Shrimp:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper.
-
Sauté the Shrimp:
- Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
-
Make the Garlic Sauce:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of butter and minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in red pepper flakes (if using) and add the white wine. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the liquid reduces by half.
-
Finish the Dish:
- Add lemon juice, lemon zest, and shrimp back to the skillet. Toss everything together and cook for another minute to heat through.
- Stir in fresh parsley and adjust seasoning if needed.
-
Serve:
- Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread. Garnish with Parmesan and extra lemon wedges if desired.
Notes
- For a low-carb version, serve over zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice.
- Use chicken broth instead of wine for a non-alcoholic option.
- Add spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra color and flavor.
