Scale
- 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Add shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly in the marinade.
- Cover and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes (do not marinate for too long to avoid mushy texture).
- Remove shrimp from marinade and cook as desired—grill, sauté, or bake until shrimp are pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Notes
- Do not marinate shrimp for more than 30 minutes to prevent over-softening.
- This marinade also works well for scallops or firm white fish.
- For best flavor, use fresh lemon juice and high-quality olive oil.
- Reserve a small amount of marinade (before adding shrimp) to drizzle over cooked shrimp as a finishing touch.
