Description

This Shrimp Marinade is a flavorful blend of citrus, garlic, herbs, and olive oil that enhances the natural sweetness of shrimp, perfect for grilling, sautéing, or baking.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  2. Add shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly in the marinade.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for 15 to 30 minutes (do not marinate for too long to avoid mushy texture).
  4. Remove shrimp from marinade and cook as desired—grill, sauté, or bake until shrimp are pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Notes

  • Do not marinate shrimp for more than 30 minutes to prevent over-softening.
  • This marinade also works well for scallops or firm white fish.
  • For best flavor, use fresh lemon juice and high-quality olive oil.
  • Reserve a small amount of marinade (before adding shrimp) to drizzle over cooked shrimp as a finishing touch.
