Description

Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these Shake and Bake Pork Chops are a quick and easy dinner option. Coated in a flavorful homemade breadcrumb mixture, they’re baked to golden perfection and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Pork Chops:

  • 4 boneless or bone-in pork chops (3/4 to 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for extra crispiness)

For the Shake and Bake Coating:

  • 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Coating:
    • In a large resealable plastic bag or mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan (if using), paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, salt, pepper, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Shake or mix well to combine.
  3. Prepare the Pork Chops:
    • Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. If desired, lightly coat them with olive oil to help the breadcrumbs adhere and enhance crispiness.
  4. Coat the Pork Chops:
    • Place one pork chop at a time in the bag of seasoned breadcrumbs. Seal the bag and shake until the chop is fully coated. Alternatively, press the pork chop into the breadcrumb mixture in a bowl, ensuring an even coating.
  5. Bake the Pork Chops:
    • Place the coated pork chops on the prepared baking sheet. For best results, use a wire rack to keep the bottom crispy.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  6. Serve:
    • Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For even crispier pork chops, use panko breadcrumbs and spray them lightly with cooking spray before baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
