For the Pork Chops:
- 4 boneless or bone-in pork chops (3/4 to 1 inch thick)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for extra crispiness)
For the Shake and Bake Coating:
- 1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs (plain or panko)
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Prepare the Coating:
- In a large resealable plastic bag or mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan (if using), paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, salt, pepper, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Shake or mix well to combine.
- Prepare the Pork Chops:
- Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel. If desired, lightly coat them with olive oil to help the breadcrumbs adhere and enhance crispiness.
- Coat the Pork Chops:
- Place one pork chop at a time in the bag of seasoned breadcrumbs. Seal the bag and shake until the chop is fully coated. Alternatively, press the pork chop into the breadcrumb mixture in a bowl, ensuring an even coating.
- Bake the Pork Chops:
- Place the coated pork chops on the prepared baking sheet. For best results, use a wire rack to keep the bottom crispy.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
- Serve:
- Let the pork chops rest for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a side salad for a complete meal.
Notes
- For even crispier pork chops, use panko breadcrumbs and spray them lightly with cooking spray before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
