Description

Seven Layer Salad is a colorful and classic make-ahead dish featuring layers of crisp vegetables, creamy dressing, cheese, and bacon. It’s perfect for potlucks, holidays, or as a hearty side.


Ingredients

  • 1 head romaine or iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a trifle bowl or large glass dish, layer the chopped lettuce evenly on the bottom.
  2. Top with layers of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and peas.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper to make the dressing.
  4. Spread the dressing evenly over the top of the layered vegetables, sealing the edges to prevent wilting.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the dressing.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight before serving.
