Description

Sautéed Green Beans are a quick and easy side dish made with fresh green beans cooked until tender-crisp and flavored with garlic and olive oil.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and blanch for 2–3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Drain and transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking. Drain again.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the green beans and toss to coat. Cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are heated through and slightly crispy on the edges.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice or butter if using. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Skip blanching for a firmer texture or if short on time.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Top with toasted almonds or Parmesan for added flavor.
