Description

This warm and cheesy dip has all the flavors of classic jalapeño poppers combined with savory sausage, making it rich and delicious with just the right amount of heat. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh veggies for a fantastic party snack!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground sausage (hot or mild, depending on your heat preference)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup pickled or fresh jalapeños, diced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for a crunchy topping)

Instructions

  • Cook the Sausage:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Prepare the Dip Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
    • Add the cooked sausage, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and diced jalapeños. Stir until well combined.
  • Assemble the Dip:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Spread the dip mixture into a baking dish (8×8 inch or similar size).
    • For a crunchy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  • Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the dip is bubbly and golden on top.
    • If you prefer an extra crispy top, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking.
  • Serve:
    • Garnish with green onions if desired.
    • Serve warm with tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • Adjust Heat: Use fewer jalapeños or swap for milder peppers if you prefer a less spicy dip.
  • Make Ahead: This dip can be prepared and refrigerated a day in advance; just bake when you’re ready to serve.
  • Dairy-Free Option: Substitute cream cheese, sour cream, and cheese with dairy-free versions.
