Scale
- 1 pound (450 g) breakfast sausage (mild, spicy, or flavored)
- 8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 packages (8 oz each) crescent roll dough
- 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
-
Cook the sausage:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into crumbles. Drain any excess grease and let cool slightly.
-
Prepare the filling:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese (if using), garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
-
Assemble the crescents:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into triangles. Place a tablespoon of the sausage mixture at the wide end of each triangle. Roll up the dough from the wide end to the narrow tip, enclosing the filling.
-
Bake:
- Place the crescent rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
-
Serve:
- Let the crescents cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as an appetizer, snack, or breakfast treat.
Â
Notes
- Substitute the breakfast sausage with turkey sausage or plant-based sausage for dietary preferences.
- For added flair, brush the tops of the crescents with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds or grated Parmesan before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or air fryer.
