- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Instructions
Step 1: Make the Salisbury Steaks
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- Mix gently until just combined, then shape into 4 oval patties.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned. Remove and set aside (they will finish cooking in the gravy).
Step 2: Make the Mushroom Gravy
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in mushrooms and cook for 5 more minutes, until browned.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and Dijon mustard. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water, then stir into the gravy to thicken.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Step 3: Simmer & Serve
- Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, coating them in the gravy.
- Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
Notes
- Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Swap breadcrumbs for crushed crackers if needed.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
