Ingredients

Scale

For the Biscuits:

  • 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 60 g (1/4 cup) cold butter, cubed
  • 150 g (1 1/2 cups) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 240 ml (1 cup) cold whole milk

For the Garlic Butter Topping:

  • 60 g (1/4 cup) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

🍞 Making the Biscuits:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut in the Butter:

    • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture.
    • Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Add Cheese and Milk:

    • Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
    • Pour in the cold milk and mix until just combined (the dough will be slightly sticky).

🧀 Shape and Bake the Biscuits:

  1. Scoop the Dough:

    • Use a large spoon or an ice cream scoop to drop 1/4 cup-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
    • Space them 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake:

    • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown on the edges.

🧄 Make the Garlic Butter Topping:

  1. Mix the Topping:

    • In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, dried parsley, and salt.
  2. Brush the Biscuits:

    • As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, generously brush them with the garlic butter mixture.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm with soups, salads, or pasta dishes.
  • These biscuits are also perfect with breakfast eggs and bacon.

Notes

  • Storage: Store biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating Tip: Warm them in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for 5-7 minutes for that fresh-out-of-the-oven taste.
