Description

This Pudding Cool Whip Frosting is light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. Made with instant pudding mix and whipped topping, it’s an easy-to-make frosting perfect for cakes, cupcakes, and desserts.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Makes enough frosting for a 9×13-inch cake or 12-16 cupcakes:

  • 1 (3.4 oz / 96 g) package of instant pudding mix (any flavor)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz / 227 g) container of Cool Whip, thawed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding:

    • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes to thicken slightly.
  2. Fold in the Cool Whip:

    • Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into the prepared pudding until fully combined and fluffy. Be careful not to overmix, as it can deflate the frosting.
  3. Frost your dessert:

    • Spread or pipe the frosting onto your cooled cake, cupcakes, or dessert of choice.
  4. Chill and serve:

    • Refrigerate the frosted dessert for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the frosting to set.

Flavor Variations

  • Chocolate Delight: Use chocolate pudding mix and garnish with chocolate shavings.
  • Lemon Bliss: Use lemon pudding mix and add a sprinkle of lemon zest on top.
  • Vanilla Classic: Use vanilla pudding mix and a splash of almond extract for extra flavor.
  • Strawberry Dream: Use strawberry pudding mix and top with fresh strawberries.

Notes

  • Ensure the Cool Whip is fully thawed before mixing for the best texture.
  • Leftover frosting can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • If you prefer a sweeter frosting, mix in 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar with the pudding.
