Description

Prosciutto and Brie Upside-Down Pastries are elegant, savory bites made with flaky puff pastry, creamy brie, and salty prosciutto, perfect as an appetizer or for brunch.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz brie cheese, sliced
  • 4 slices prosciutto
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 equal squares.
  3. Drizzle a little honey on the parchment where each pastry will go, then place a piece of prosciutto and a slice of brie on top. Sprinkle with thyme if using.
  4. Place a puff pastry square over each stack and tuck the edges slightly underneath to encase the filling.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes, then carefully flip the pastries upside down and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can add a small spoonful of fig jam or caramelized onions under the brie for extra flavor.
  • Best served warm, but can be reheated in the oven.
  • Cut puff pastry into smaller squares for bite-sized appetizers.
