Description

Praline Crunch is a delightful snack mix that combines the sweetness of caramelized sugar with the crunch of pecans and Crispix cereal. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for parties, gifting, or simply indulging at home.

Ingredients

Units Scale

  • 8 cups Crispix cereal
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • Combine Cereal and Pecans: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Crispix cereal and pecan halves.
  • Prepare Caramel Mixture: In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, let it cook for 2 minutes without stirring.
  • Add Vanilla and Baking Soda: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will become frothy.
  • Coat Cereal and Pecans: Pour the caramel mixture over the cereal and pecans. Gently stir until the cereal and pecans are evenly coated.
  • Bake: Spread the coated mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent burning.
  • Cool and Break Apart: After baking, remove from the oven and let it cool completely. Once cooled, break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to the caramel mixture.
  • Ensure the caramel mixture reaches a full rolling boil before removing it from heat to achieve the desired texture.
  • Store Praline Crunch in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
