Description

This Potsticker Sauce is a perfect balance of savory, tangy, and slightly sweet flavors with a hint of heat. It’s the ultimate dipping sauce for potstickers, dumplings, egg rolls, or even spring rolls. Quick and easy to make with pantry staples, this sauce will take your dumpling game to the next level!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar for a tangier flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey or brown sugar (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon water (to thin the sauce if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional garnish)

Instructions

1. Mix the base:

  • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and water. Whisk until smooth.

2. Add flavor:

  • Stir in honey (or brown sugar), minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

3. Adjust seasoning:

  • Taste the sauce and adjust by adding more honey for sweetness or vinegar for extra tang.

4. Garnish and serve:

  • Sprinkle chopped green onions and sesame seeds on top before serving.
  • Serve as a dipping sauce with potstickers, dumplings, or gyoza.

Notes

  • Add a dash of sriracha or chili oil for extra heat.
  • Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Make it gluten-free by using tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
