Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 500 g)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) tomato sauce or pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup (25 g) shredded Parmesan cheese
- Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, olives
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Season chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until golden (doesn’t need cooked through). Transfer to baking dish.
- Spoon pizza sauce evenly over each chicken breast.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top, then add optional toppings like pepperoni or veggies.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, until chicken reaches 74 °C (165 °F) and cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from oven, garnish with fresh basil or parsley, and serve hot—great with salad, pasta, or crusty bread.
Notes
- For extra crispness, broil for 1–2 minutes after baking to brown cheese edges.
- Use thick-cut chicken breasts or gently pound them to 1½ cm for even cooking.
- Swap tomato sauce for marinara or alfredo to vary flavors.
- Meal prep tip: assemble in a baking dish, cover and refrigerate; bake fresh when ready.
- Customize toppings—try diced pineapple, jalapeños, or cooked sausage.
