Description

A fun, flavorful twist on chicken that mimics your favorite pizza—topped with tomato sauce, melty cheese, and classic pizza toppings for a crowd-pleasing weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 500 g)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup (25 g) shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Optional toppings: pepperoni slices, sliced mushrooms, bell pepper, olives
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Season chicken breasts with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until golden (doesn’t need cooked through). Transfer to baking dish.
  4. Spoon pizza sauce evenly over each chicken breast.
  5. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top, then add optional toppings like pepperoni or veggies.
  6. Bake for 15–20 minutes, until chicken reaches 74 °C (165 °F) and cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Remove from oven, garnish with fresh basil or parsley, and serve hot—great with salad, pasta, or crusty bread.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, broil for 1–2 minutes after baking to brown cheese edges.
  • Use thick-cut chicken breasts or gently pound them to 1½ cm for even cooking.
  • Swap tomato sauce for marinara or alfredo to vary flavors.
  • Meal prep tip: assemble in a baking dish, cover and refrigerate; bake fresh when ready.
  • Customize toppings—try diced pineapple, jalapeños, or cooked sausage.
