- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese, like pepper jack)
- 1 fresh jalapeño, thinly sliced into rounds
- Optional toppings: pinch of smoked paprika or garlic powder
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking.
2. Prepare the Cheese Crisps:
- Place small mounds of shredded cheese (about 1 tablespoon each) on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Top each cheese mound with a slice of jalapeño. If desired, sprinkle lightly with smoked paprika or garlic powder for added flavor.
3. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden around the edges.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the crisps cool on the tray for 5 minutes to firm up.
4. Serve:
- Once cooled, transfer the crisps to a serving platter. Enjoy as a standalone snack or pair them with your favorite dip.
Notes
- Custom Cheese: Experiment with different cheeses like Parmesan, Gouda, or a Mexican blend for unique flavors.
- Storage: Store leftover crisps in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. They may soften slightly but will remain delicious.
- Less Spicy Option: Remove the seeds from the jalapeño slices to reduce the heat.
