Description

These Pineapple Apricot Glazed Chicken Wings are sweet, tangy, and finger-licking good! The sticky glaze made with pineapple and apricot preserves creates a mouthwatering coating, while the wings are baked to perfection. Perfect for game day, parties, or as a flavorful appetizer.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Chicken Wings:

  • 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup (120g) apricot preserves
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) pineapple juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Prepare the Chicken Wings:
    • Pat the wings dry with paper towels and place them in a large mixing bowl.
    • Toss the wings with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
    • Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack.
  3. Bake the Wings:
    • Bake the wings in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are crispy and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
  4. Make the Glaze:
    • While the wings are baking, combine apricot preserves, pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan.
    • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Coat the Wings:
    • Remove the baked wings from the oven and transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the glaze over the wings and toss until evenly coated.
  6. Broil (Optional):
    • For a stickier finish, return the glazed wings to the wire rack and broil on high for 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  7. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped parsley, green onions, or sesame seeds if desired. Serve warm with napkins on hand!

Notes

  • For extra crispy wings, pat them dry thoroughly and bake on a wire rack to allow air circulation.
  • If you prefer a thinner glaze, add a splash more pineapple juice. For a thicker glaze, simmer longer to reduce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
