Ingredients

Scale

(Serves 6-8)

  • 2 tubes (8 oz each) Pillsbury crescent rolls
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 packet (1 oz) taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese blend)
  • 1/2 cup salsa (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or cilantro (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or a round pie dish.

2. Cook the Taco Meat:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat.

3. Assemble the Taco Bake:

  1. Unroll one tube of crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the baking dish, pinching the seams together to form a solid crust.
  2. Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over the crescent roll base.
  3. If using salsa, spread it evenly over the taco meat.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on top of the meat layer.
  5. Unroll the second tube of crescent roll dough and lay it over the cheese, pinching the edges to seal.

4. Bake:

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.

5. Serve:

  1. Let the taco bake cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
  2. Garnish with sour cream, green onions, or cilantro if desired. Serve with your favorite taco toppings like guacamole, salsa, or shredded lettuce.

Notes

  • Spice It Up: Add chopped jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne to the taco meat for extra heat.
  • Customizable: Add a layer of refried beans or black beans under the taco meat for added texture and flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
