Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread is the perfect mash-up of two comfort food favorites. Crispy garlic bread is loaded with juicy steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted provolone cheese. It’s a quick, crowd-pleasing meal or appetizer that comes together in under 30 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread loaf, halved lengthwise

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread this garlic butter over both halves of the French bread.

  3. Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

  4. While the bread toasts, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and peppers. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

  5. Add the sliced steak to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until the steak is just cooked through.

  6. Remove the bread from the oven. Evenly layer the steak and veggie mixture over each bread half.

  7. Top with slices of provolone cheese.

  8. Return to the oven and bake for another 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  9. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can spread a thin layer of mayo on the bread before adding the steak.

  • Ribeye is traditional, but flank steak or sirloin also work well.

  • Swap in mozzarella or cheddar if you don’t have provolone.
