This Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread is the perfect mash-up of two comfort food favorites. Crispy garlic bread is loaded with juicy steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted provolone cheese. It’s a quick, crowd-pleasing meal or appetizer that comes together in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
-
1 large French bread loaf, halved lengthwise
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
-
1 green bell pepper, sliced
-
1 small yellow onion, sliced
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
6-8 slices provolone cheese
-
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread this garlic butter over both halves of the French bread.
-
Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes, or until lightly toasted.
-
While the bread toasts, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and peppers. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
-
Add the sliced steak to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for another 3–4 minutes, or until the steak is just cooked through.
-
Remove the bread from the oven. Evenly layer the steak and veggie mixture over each bread half.
-
Top with slices of provolone cheese.
-
Return to the oven and bake for another 5–7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
-
For extra flavor, you can spread a thin layer of mayo on the bread before adding the steak.
-
Ribeye is traditional, but flank steak or sirloin also work well.
-
Swap in mozzarella or cheddar if you don’t have provolone.
