Description
This Peppermint Oreo Bark is a quick and easy holiday dessert made with layers of rich chocolate, crunchy Oreo cookies, and cool peppermint flavor. It’s perfect for gift-giving, holiday parties, or a festive treat to enjoy with a cup of hot cocoa!
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz semi-sweet or white chocolate chips (or almond bark)
- 12 Oreo cookies, roughly chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
- Extra Oreo pieces or crushed peppermint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Prepare Baking Sheet:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper for easy removal.
-
Melt the Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler on the stovetop.
-
Add Flavor and Mix-ins:
- Stir in the peppermint extract until evenly combined.
- Fold in the chopped Oreos, reserving a few for topping.
-
Assemble the Bark:
- Pour the chocolate mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out evenly using a spatula.
- Sprinkle crushed peppermint candies and the reserved Oreo pieces on top, pressing gently into the chocolate.
-
Set the Bark:
- Let the bark cool at room temperature until firm, about 1-2 hours. For faster setting, place it in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
-
Break and Serve:
- Once the chocolate is completely set, break the bark into pieces and enjoy!
Notes
- Use dark chocolate or milk chocolate for a richer flavor.
- For a swirled effect, drizzle melted white chocolate over the top before adding the peppermint and Oreo pieces.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
