Description

These Peppermint Gooey Bars are soft, chewy, and packed with festive peppermint flavor! Made with a buttery cookie base, white chocolate, and crushed candy canes, they’re the perfect holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) white or vanilla cake mix 🎂
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg 🥚
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup (180 g) white chocolate chips 🍫
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) crushed candy canes 🍬
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prepare

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.

2. Make the Base

  1. In a large bowl, mix the cake mix, melted butter, egg, vanilla, and peppermint extract until well combined.
  2. Press ⅔ of the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

3. Add the Filling

  1. Sprinkle the white chocolate chips and crushed candy canes over the dough.
  2. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the top.

4. Add the Topping & Bake

  1. Crumble the remaining ⅓ of the dough over the top (it won’t fully cover, but that’s okay!).
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set but still gooey.

5. Cool & Serve

  1. Let cool for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars.
  2. (Optional) Sprinkle with extra crushed candy canes for a festive touch!

Notes

Extra chocolaty? Use dark chocolate chips instead of white.
Want crunch? Add chopped pecans or walnuts.
Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
