Description

These soft, chewy Classic Peanut Butter Cookies are full of rich peanut butter flavor and topped with the signature crisscross pattern. They’re quick to make, freezer-friendly, and perfect for snack time or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and peanut butter until smooth and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the peanut butter mixture until fully combined.

  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

  7. Flatten each ball with a fork, making a crisscross pattern.

  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra texture, use chunky peanut butter or stir in ½ cup chopped peanuts.

  • These cookies freeze well—store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

  • Dip in melted chocolate for a fun twist!
